The Amiga and Atari Serial Mouse Interface

The Amiga and Atari Serial Mouse Interface

The Serial Mouse Interface for Atari and Amiga computers is a small unit that enables a serial mouse (as used on IBM compatibles) to be connected to the ordinary Atari or Amiga mouse port. All you need to do is plug it in, no driver software is required. Since the interface appears to the computer exactly like an ordinary Atari or Amiga mouse, it will work in any software where a standard mouse would. In addition, many serial trackballs and touch-pads also work with the interface, making it a very versatile solution. Many PS/2 mice can also be used with the aid of a low-cost adaptor (often supplied with the mouse).

The Serial Mouse Interface fully supports three button mice. The middle button can be set to act in the usual way (only useful if your software supports it), or otherwise the middle button can be configured so that a single press on it acts like a double click of the left mouse button. This makes navigating around the desktop and software much easier.
