Galaxy

Galaxy is a VMEbus card which suits Atari Mega STE and TT computers, and provides a (S)VGA graphics display adapter and 10 megabit ethernet interface.

Graphics specifications

• Pixel clock rates up to 130 MHz.
• 16-bit colour (65,536 colours).
• This means resolutions of up to 1280x1024 at 76 Hz on typical SVGA monitors.
• 4 megabytes of video RAM (16 megabytes optional).
• High speed drawing performed in hardware makes screen refreshes very fast.
• I believe this is the fastest video card available for the TT.
• Accelerated driver for fVDI (free VDI) supplied.

Ethernet specifications

• 10 megabit ethernet interface.
• Attachment unit interface (AUI).
• MAU/transceiver not supplied.
• Driver for MiNT is supplied.

Full information on the hardware is available to developers who would write other drivers (e.g. for Linux or MagiC).

As of November 2000, the first cards are available. Ethernet firmware is not finished yet, so currently the cards are available with graphics only (i.e. NO ETHERNET SUPPORT). If you are interested in buying a graphics only card please contact me.
